Pacificvet Vitamin B1 Powder for horses regulates the carbohydrate metabolism and is important for normal function of nerve tissue and heart muscle. Vitamin B1 exerts a protective effect on the gastrointestinal tract and is important for maintaining normal conditions of peristalsis, fat absorption and enzyme activity in the gut. Vitamin B1 may help to stimulate the appetite in “picky” feeding horses.
Deficiency of Vitamin B1 may cause disorders of the nervous system and may be associated with nervous behaviour. The carbohydrate metabolism and water balance in the body may also be adversely affected by the lack of Vitamin B1. Other signs of deficiency may include anorexia and inadequate utilization of energy.
When increasing the quantities of energy-rich feed in the diet, the requirement of Vitamin B1 available for metabolism will inevitably need to increase, leading to the need for dietary supplementation.
