Precautions
Avoid exposing chicks to early challenge by field strains of Marek’s disease virus. Place chicks into a clean environment not contaminated by adult chickens. This enables the vaccinated chicks to develop immunity before being challenged by field strains of Marek’s disease virus.
Vaccination prevents clinical manifestations of Marek’s disease, but does not prevent infection by and shedding of field strains of Marek’s disease virus.
MD-Vac® CFL is less effective than the cell associated vaccines in the presence of maternal antibodies and in the face of high challenge by field strains of Marek’s disease virus.
In accordance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) best practice, all susceptible birds should be vaccinated concurrently with the dose recommended by the manufacturer.
Reconstituted vaccine must be held at less than 27°C and used within 1 hour.
See MD-Vac® CFL package insert for detailed directions for use.
MD-Vac® CFL is registered pursuant to the ACVM Act 1997, No. A2733. See www.foodsafety.govt.nz for registration conditions.
