Indication
An aid in stimulating active immunisation of 1 day old chicks against Marek’s Disease.
Presentation
1000 / 2000 doses live cell-associated Rispens CVI 988 (Serotype 1) and Turkey Herpesvirus FC126 (Serotype 3)
vaccine per glass ampoule. The glass ampoules are held in metal canes stored in liquid nitrogen.
Each metal cane holds 5 glass ampoules.

Vaccination Program
Live attenuated Marek’s Disease vaccine is given to 1 day old chicks.
Vaccine administration
At 1 day-of-age administer 0.2 ml Poulvac® CVI+HVT by subcutaneous injection.

Precautions
The vaccine must be transported and stored submerged in liquid nitrogen at -196°C at all times until thawed for reconstitution.
Take care when withdrawing a metal cane of ampoules from the liquid nitrogen and wear protective clothing.
Occasionally glass ampoules may explode when removed from the liquid nitrogen or metal cane, or when placed in the thawing container.
Reconstituted vaccine must be held at less than 27°C and used within 2 hours.
In accordance with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) best practice, all susceptible birds should be vaccinated concurrently with the dose recommended by the manufacturer.
Avoid exposing chicks to early challenge by field strains of Marek’s disease virus. Place chicks into a clean environment not contaminated by adult chickens. This enables the vaccinated chicks to develop immunity before being challenged by field strains of Marek’s disease virus.
Vaccination prevents clinical manifestations of Marek’s disease, but does not prevent infection by and shedding of field strains of Marek’s disease virus.
